Travis is coming to pick me up and we're moving all of my stuff to Kansas City. I think it'll be very interesting to live there, it's a big city and I really like it. I'll get to experience my first real winter. It snowed once when I was in 2nd grade and melted as soon as it hit the ground. The winters never really get cold back home.
A sort of friend of mine just broke up with her boyfriend of a couple years. She lives in D.C. and he's moving away. I would love to just pack up and move out there. I love it so much there, it's beautiful and it would be a great place for me to live. But I'm already kind of doing a spur of the moment move. So I'll have to save the D.C. thing for next time I decide to just pack my things and leave.
Nobody seems to understand why I don't want to live in Mississippi (where I grew up). It's really not my kind of place. Where I'm from has the beach, casinos and stuff like that. It's mainly a get a mundane job, or marry a guy who already has one, have four kids, buy a mini-van and a nice house and just chill for the rest of your life kind of place. That isn't my kind of thing. At all. I want adventure and excitement. You only live once, I don't want to look back and regret my life. I got a scholarship to Memphis College of Art and moved up here, now I'm off to Missouri. I'd really like to live in Chicago for some time, just to see what it's like. But I think my next stop will be somewhere like D.C.
People where I'm from always talk about living somewhere else. It's like, when somebody has dreams of being an actress and talks about it a lot, most of them never even pursue it, we all have those kinds of things we want to be or do. I'd love to be a rock star, but it's never going to happen and that's cool because I'd probably end up hating it anyway.
But where I'm from, when people say they want to live somewhere that's not even super exciting like Texas or something, it's considered this huge fantasy. When I said I was interested in living in NYC someday everybody just laughed. All of them know they'll never leave and a huge majority of them never do. Everyone I knew in high school lives either in Mississippi or Alabama. My boyfriend and I are the only people I know of that have moved. It's crazy. People can't believe I moved to Memphis and it's fifteen minutes outside of Mississippi. It's not that hard, I got accepted to a college I liked, packed my stuff, got in my car and left.
But that's all for now. I'd rather blog about something interesting that happens.
