One Month Off

I'm finally settled in here in Kansas City. Or KCMO as everybody says, (KCMO-kansas city mo and KCK- kansas city kansas). I really love it here. I'm so glad to be back with Travis and our friend from high school. I've had more fun in the past four days here than I've had in the past year and a half.
The snow....I love the snow. I've never seen snow before, back home it's 70 degrees today and here it's 17. I really really love it. At first it was nice to be out of Biloxi and living in Memphis, but now it's so nice to be out of Memphis. Well, Memphis is wonderful, but it's nice to be out of my cold, tiny apartment. It was an efficiency, so I had a bedroom, my roommate's bedroom and a kitchen. I'm not really one for sitting around all day watching tv. I love to be out and about or always doing something, but I never realized how nice it is every now and then to just curl up on the couch with a book. I was so sick of being locked away in my tiny, cluttered bedroom all the time because the city I was in was too dangerous for me to be out alone in.
There's so much to do here and I already have a whole lot of things to keep me busy. I really love my room here. The walls are red, black and beige. The bed is a black Queen with metal studs on the headboard. On the walls are b&w photos from old films and of actors and actresses from those films. On the left of the enormous HD TV is a huge painting of Audrey Hepburn and to the right is Marilyn Monroe. A bit cliche, I know. It's still great, get over it.

The Clock

Today is just one of those days I hate.

The sockets in my apartment stopped working.
Couldn't turn on space heater.
Really cold night.
Had trouble sleeping.
Woke up at 2pm.
Apartment was freezing.
Pounding headache begins.
Discovered plugs in bathroom work.
Plugged space heater in and curled up in hallway with Macbook.
Mean text from Mom saying she checked my bank account.
She asks why I'm broke.
New girl showed up to move in.
A couple other people showed up.
Decided on dinner Downtown.
Dinner wasn't good.
Missed Ugly Betty thanks to dinner and powerless apartment.
At least dinner was free.
Got harassed by a homeless guy.
I have no sympathy.
Ran out of boxes while packing.
Boyfriend won't answer phone.
Boyfriend has boxes.
Boyfriend still won't answer phone.
Angry, tired trip to Target to find boxes.
Way too expensive.
Boyfriend still doesn't answer.
Planning on beating up boyfriend tomorrow.
Decides that's not the best plan since I haven't seen him in so long.
Misses boyfriend.
Spends money I don't have at Target.
Back in tiny hallway.
So glad I'm moving out.
Still freezing cold apartment.
For some odd reason I want a Frosty.
Pounding headache still not gone.
Exhausted for some reason.
Wants to sleep.
Still in hallway.
Pounding headache dissipating.

Anywhere But Here

So my last day of school at Memphis College of Art is tomorrow. I get way too sentimental with certain things. Ok, with everything. I don't know what it is. Earlier tonight I was leaving the school and was like "This is the last time I'll be here at night." I looked around and took in the scenery, the dark basement of the school, the lights in the park reflecting off the pond.

I just don't understand myself. I'm so weird. Tomorrow I'll be sad, many of these people I've known for the past several months will probably never see me again. On my last day all I have is Art History 2, we're just going in, picking up our last test and leaving. My teacher, Adrian Duran, has probably been my favorite teacher. Ever. From Pre-School until now, he is my number one fave. I know I'll get over it....

As soon as Travis and I have everything packed into our cars, and we're out of Tennessee, I will be SO DAMN HAPPY.

I need to get the hell out of here.

What Gets You Off?

Ok so celeb crushes are considered kind of weird for several reasons.
1. You dont even know them, a lot of them are huge d-bags.
(but hey, if I knew him in real life, I'd probably still have a crush)

2. You'll probably never meet them
(just like I never talked to that hot guy at the mall, but I still had thoughts in my head....)

3. You only want them because they're famous
(I'm not going to cry if he gets married, I just like to look)

And many other reasons. I'm definitely not one of those girls with photos all over her walls who cries every time a certain celeb is seen out with a woman and has been saving myself for him for years. I wouldn't chase them down in public, or stalk them or anything. I just like to look at gorgeous gorgeous men.

So here are the two that are currently my favorite.

Ed Westwick. I think I mainly have a crush on the fictitious Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl. But Ed sure is pretty, he became twice as attractive the first time I heard his British accent. What is it with us American girls and those accents? Hell, I bet even British girls can't get over the sexy accent.

Andy Samberg.
Ok so I LOVE a guy with a sense of humor and Andy obviously has one (he's a cast member on SNL). He's funny and absolutely adorable (in that sexy man kind of way, not in a tiny stuffed animal way). He's also rumored to be dating Joanna Newsom, they met because he's a fan of her music, which means he has a great taste in music. If you haven't listened to Joanna Newsom I suggest you go right now. It's beautiful.

So those are the two closest things I have to a "celeb crush"

We're Going To Be Friends

So here's a strange situation for you. I had this group of friends in high school, we were all so close. I'd probably been 'best friends' with each girl in the group at one point or another, the last of them kind of ruined it all. Sometime during our senior year apparently something went wrong and she snapped. This whole insane high school war broke out between her (backed by the rest of the group) and me (backed my random people at school that I never knew had my back, oh and my boyfriend...).
At first I took it really hard, all the people I'd been so close to for several years(except for a few of the more mature people) had just dropped me like I meant nothing to them. As soon as I find out a lot of them were manipulative liars I got over it. I'd recently started making friends at work, so it's not like I became this complete loner. My current best friend who I absolutely love started hanging around with me at this time. I'm afraid to say that if those idiots hadn't turned on me I probably wouldn't have hung out with her as much, therefore I wouldn't have the best best friend ever. So it ended up working out for me in the end.
After many screaming matches between the ex best friend and the boyfriend (I prefer not to fight, but she was brining his life long friends into it, so whatever), it seemed like everything had calmed down about half way through our senior year. I was relieved. I just wanted to spend time with my new group of friends and Travis (the boyfriend).  But of course they laid off for about a week and started up with the very middle school-esque teasing and that I just didn't care for at all.
I was never that geeky kid in school that everybody made fun of, I just became part of that group of people that made fun of those kids who really never did anything wrong. I feel bad for it now, but it's all over with. So anyway, I recently found out most of them had just been lying throughout our friendship, which just made me laugh because I'm so much better off now anyway.  I got a scholarship to a really great school. I'm still with Travis, I have an insane amount of friends and I'm really happy with my life.
Only a couple of them are in college, and it's the small crappy local community college back home (not dissing community college, but stll). They still really only have each other from what I've heard, and are just getting into lots of trouble. The ex best friends long time boyfriend and Travis' life-long best friend broke up with her. I was really happy when I found out he'd taken up for me senior year. I was glad to find out he was one of the good friends.
So anyway, done with explaining the history behind it. She recently uploaded a lot of old photos of us from high
school on her Facebook. She tagged me as MegFaye, which I really only go by here on my blog and I use it for my email
address. I just have no idea why somebody would do that. Does she not have anything better to do? Oh and in each photo
there's at least one comment referring to me as a "fag". Interesting.
I don't really care, it's just really strange to me.

Oh, did I mention we graduated in May '07 and I haven't spoken to her since 2006?
Talk about a grudge!

Ghouls

So the Twilight movie came out some time ago, derived from the book that inspired tons of teenage girl fantasies, fan-fictions, and overall just millions of girls (and a percentage of boys) who orgasm when someone says the word "Cullen"

So when invited to see the movie, I couldn't turn down a good Monday night out, which ended with a late night trip to IHOP. I'm usually pretty picky about which movies I like and I can be pretty critical at times, but I also posses the ability to just let go and enjoy something. Which leads to the four or five dvds that are hidden in the back that nobody knows about. Shhhh at least
Smokin' Aces had Jeremy Piven....and guns.

I'm usually a "one of the boys" kind of girl. Don't get me wrong, I love a romantic night out with the boyfriend as much as the next girl, but I'd much rather watch Clive Owen with a gun in somebody's face (
The International...hello) than Kate Hudson's newest romantic comedy (Bride Wars.....really?).

A lot of people have said "Well you like
Harry Potter ... Twilight is the same."
Um....no my friend it is not. There are many more people who read the
Harry Potter series and they aren't necessarily about vampires falling in love. At all. Twilight has pretty much claimed every 13-24 year old female (and again, a few males) on earth except for the few of us who managed to escape Stephanie Meyer's vampire loving clutches.

Ok I'll admit the movie wasn't bad. If I just let the girly-girl in me come out and get all sappy and romantic and start 'squee-ing' every time I hear the name Edward. But that girl never comes out. It was weird when she did as soon as he started to shimmer like fricken lip gloss.

But Robert Pattinson's acting was a little iffy at times, like everyone else has mentioned. I like him, he admits he can't act. Come on, if somebody said they'd pay you $12 million (which is what he's getting for the rest of the films...yes there are more coming) to play a shiny angsty vampire, you'd probably do it. Eff I would say "And the lion fell in love with the lamb..." however many times Stephanie (fricken) Meyer told the director to tell me to.

One thing about the character of Edward, now I haven't read the books so maybe the movie is portraying it the wrong way, but isn't he like 100-something years old? Yes, he was 17 when he became a glittery, upset vampire but you think after one hundred years he'd get over the whole teen angst thing? Were teenagers even angsty one hundred years ago?

Anyway, this little snippet from College Humor is entertaining (almost as entertaining as glittery vampires playing baseball to Supermassive Black Hole):
